Reaching 100 Million: International Lutheran Leaders Speak Out, presents both case studies and challenge papers by international Lutheran leaders, complete with study guides. Drs. Allan Yung (Hong Kong), Carlos Winterle (Brazil), Carlos Schumann (Chile), David Tswaedi (South Africa) and Paul Fynn (Ghana) describe what's happening and what works in their church bodies regarding the key ministries of church planting, leadership training and human care ministry.
Drs. J.A.O. Preus and Robert Scudieri, and Reverend Matthew Harrison challenge the reader to consider what's possible regarding these key ministries. By speaking clearly and compellingly regarding these ministries, these Lutheran leaders also speak favorably regarding the LCMS sponsored Ablaze! Movement. Included are a Forward and Introduction by LCMS President Dr. Gerald Kieschnick and LCMS World Mission Executive Director, Dr. Robert Roegner.
The Apostolic Church:
One, Holy, Catholic and Missionary, by the Rev. Robert J. Scudieri, is the first
in a series of books to be published by the Lutheran Society for Missiology.
Dr. Scudieri is chairman of the Lutheran Society for Missiology and is the Area Secretary
for North America for the Board for Mission Services of The Lutheran Church - Missouri
Synod.
The book's great contribution to Missiology is to present the insight that a thorough
study of the term "apostolic" in Scripture, and as reflected in the writings of
the early church fathers, clearly points to the fact that the truly apostolic church is
meant to be a missionary church, sent to take the Gospel out into the world.
The
Lutherans in Mission, edited by Eugene W. Bunkowske and Alan D. Scott, (Lutheran
Society for Missiology 2), is a collection of essays on Lutheran Missiology,
published in honor of the ministry of Dr. Won Yong Ji, Professor of Theology at Concordia
Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.
The essays discuss the biblical principles for and
insights into the mission on which Christ has sent all believers, the mission to bring the
lost to himself. They provide a Lutheran perspective on this mission, showing how Dr.
Martin Luther and Lutherans following him fit into God's worldwide mission of reaching the
lost.
Essays include: "Luther and Mission," by Dr. Eugene W. Bunkowske, "The
Five Great Commissions and Contemporary Christian Witness," by Robert J. Kolb,
"Mission as Participation in Christ's Suffering and Joy," and many others.
